Goals of the 6 & 12 Week Courses – Organic Agribusiness
Are you interested in joining the agricultural community? Do you seek to acquire the fundamental skills of self employment or are you looking to be more competitive in the job market? AiSA has educated transitioning service men and women, as well as members of the general public, to be successful in the sustainable and organic agricultural industry, known as Agribusiness.
Formerly known as VSAT or the Veteran’s Sustainable Agriculture Training program, more than 450 graduates have left our Agribusiness education farm ready to help feed our nation since 2007. We assist with the job placement and business creation after graduation. Our graduates include successful farm owners and workers, soil-testing pioneers, restaurateurs, and owners of food companies.
BIOL 3496. Special Topics – Sustainable Agriculture Students learn the methods of sustainability in crop productions as well as business practices. (2 Credits)
AGEC 1004. Introduction to Agribusiness. Background of American agriculture. Interrelationships of agricultural industries. Economic concepts of production, marketing , and consumption. Principles of management. Agricultural policy. Issues/trends in agribusiness. (3 Credits)
AGEC 2530, Professional Agriselling. Use of technical and agricultural knowledge in agricultural sales. Need-Satisfaction approach to selling. Planning and conducting informational meetings, exhibiting at farm and trade shows, importance of service and timelines in agribusiness, and practice in making gristles presentations. (3 Credits)
AGEC 3440, Fundamentals of Value-Added Agriculture. Explore different aspects of value added agriculture as it relates to the production or manufacturing processes, marketing, or services that increase value of primary commodities or apples to the final consumers. (3 credits)
